It is very important for you to know that the shape and color of your poop can tell a lot about your health. Next time you go to the bathroom take a look at the poop in order to find if everything is all right with your body.

1.Well do you know your poop?

The brown poop is the waste which is left of the food after your body has digested it and absorbed all the nutrients from it. This is the natural way of eliminating all the waste from your body. The smell and look of the poop can help you find out what is happening inside your body.

2.Textures of poop

  • Separate hard lumps, like nuts

This is a sign of lack of fiber and fluids which means that you need to drink more water and consume more fruits and vegetables.

  • Sausage-shaped, smooth and soft

This is an indication that you are healthy.

  • Watery, no solid pieces, all liquid

This is commonly known as diarrhea and is usually associated with some infection in the body. In this case you need to drink more fluids to prevent dehydration.

Sausageshaped but lumpy – It is not serious, but it is a sign of fluid and fiber deficiency.

Soft blobs with clear-cut edges – This is normal if you have bowel movements multiple times a day.

Sausage-shaped but with cracks on surface – This may be normal, but you should drink more water.

Fluffy pieces with ragged edges, a mushy stool – This type of poop is somewhere between normal and diarrhea.

Soft and sticks to the side of the toilet bowl – This is a sign of improper absorption of fats which occurs due to the presence of too much oil and the body is no able to properly absorb them because of chronic pancreatitis.

3.Shade of poop

Brown

This is the normal color of the poop and it is a result of the bile produced in the liver.

Green

This may be due to overconsumption of green leafy vegetables or foods with green coloring. Also, it may be a sign that the food is moving through the intestine too quickly.

Yellow

This may be a sign of excess fat which occurs due to malabsorption disorder like celiac disease.

Black

This may be a sign of internal bleeding due to some ulcer or even cancer. Also, it may be as a result of some vitamins which contain iron or bismuth subsalicylate. In this case you should visit your doctor.

Light-colored, white or clay-colored

This may indicate a bile duct obstruction. Also, it can be caused by some medications. Visit your doctor.

Blood-stained or red

If you find blood in your stool, visit your doctor immediately because it can be a symptom of cancer.
