The greatest rice producer in the world is China. They harvest more than 200 million tons yearly and a great part of it is exported throughout the world. However, people need to be very careful when it comes to rice exported from China. Namely, it is high in pesticides, but there has been rice which has been manufactured artificially, i.e. there exists fake rice. The grains are steamed with a rice aroma.
Doctors warn people against consuming this rice as three full portions contain much plastic as there is in a little plastic bag. This is alarming!
There are tricks that can help you test the rice and see whether it is plastic or a real one:
Water test – place 1 tbsp. of uncooked rice into a glass of cold water. If in case the rice sinks to the bottom then it is real one, but in case the grains float on the surface, then you better not consume it.
Fire test – test a bit of the rice on fire with a lighter or match. If the rice starts burning instantly and it smells like plastic, then you know what to do.
Mortar and pestle test – real rice turns into white and starchy powder when crushed with a mortar and pestle, but artificial rice will appear as light yellow discoloration.
Mold test – if you want to know if your rice is cooked safe, then you should put a small quantity of cooked rice into an airtight container and let it stay in a warm place. In just a couple of days it will become moldy, but if it is not moldy, then it is artificial rice.
