Ingredients:
  • Cotton ball or a small piece of cotton
  • Tweezers (optional)

This is what you should do:

1.Pour 2 cups of Epsom salt into a bowl filled with warm water. Place the bowl on the floor in a spot that will be comfortable for you to rest your foot in it.

2.Place your foot into the bowl and allow it to soak in the water for 20 to 30 minutes in order to kill any bacteria in the toe and keep the area clean. Remove your foot, and wipe it off with a clean towel.

3.Next, trim your toenail with extra care around the ingrown area. Cut the nail straight across, but not too much. Start with the edges of the toenail, protecting the swollen area. Remember to cut the nails from the sides and not from the middle as it can worsen the situation.

4.Use a cuticle remover or  to push the cotton under the toenail to prevent the ingrown toenail from coming back. Be careful not to push too hard, or you might hurt yourself!

5.Apply infection preventing ointment to the affected area, and keep it bandaged. For preventing infection, make sure you change the cotton everyday.

Note:

Let the toe get some air.Wear open-toe shoes or sandals, if possible, while you have the ingrown toenail. The less pressure you place on the toe, the less pain you will feel and the easier it will be to heal. Shower every day and change your socks once a day in order to keep the area clean. Your ingrown toenail should grow out in a few weeks!
