Five amazing things that your brain is making while you sleep

Sleep is an activity that is very important for the health and the general welfare of each person. It is interesting that we spend a quarter of our life sleeping but it’s never really explained why we sleep.

We know that after sleep we are full of energy and that the sleep improves our mood, but what exactly happens in the brain while we rest?

As it seems, while we sleep our brain is anything but not restful.

Here’s what happens in our head during sleeping:

  1. Makes decisions

The brain processes information and gets ready for action during sleeping, effectively deciding while unconscious, showed the latest researches. This was showed in a recent study by “Current Biology” journal which proved that the brain is stimulated during sleep and use information that is available to make a decision while awake.

  1. Create and store memories

The brain form new memories while we sleep, feeds the old ones and ties the emerging ones with some old memories.

  1. Make creative connection

During sleep the brain creates some new links and thus connects seemingly distant links that lead to completely new ideas.

  1. It removes the toxins

The series of studies made in 2013 showed that sleeping for the brain is like cleaning the house. Researchers from the University of Rochester proved that damaged molecules in the brain are being cleaned during sleep.

  1. Teaches and reminds how to perform mental tasks

The brain stores information in long-lasting memory through intervals of the dream that send strong frequencies to the brain. This process is especially important for our motor skills such as driving, holding a tennis racket or practicing dance movements.
