
This plant is called “ramsons” (lat. Allium ursinum), traditionally known as wild garlic, grows mainly in higher mountain areas, but there are more and more people who are starting to grow it in their gardens. It is considered since ancient times, as an extremely medicinal herb and one of the best for purifying the blood, liver and digestive system. It has extremely strong effects over intestinal parasites and prevents infectious inflammation of the mucus membranes in the intestines.
Wild garlic is rich in minerals and vitamin C, so it may help in different health problems. The leaves contain a greater quantity of vitamin C than the bulb, so people mostly use the wild garlic’s leaves.

Wild garlic – healing recipes
1.Ramsons Bread
Ingredients:
- 8 large leaves of wild garlic / ramsons or 1tbsp dried garlic powder and 25g baby spinach and 15g flat leaf parsley
- 4 rashers of smoked streaky bacon or 2 tbsps crispy bacon bits
- 225ml warm water
- 415g strong bread flour
- 30g salted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp dried yeast
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsps milk powder.
Cut the bacon into fine strips and fry in a non stick pan cook until crispy, drain off excess fat and then add the finely chopped wild garlic and just allow to wilt with the bacon, allow to cool.
Add the flour, powdered milk sugar and salt into a bowl and combine, add the dried yeast . Melt the butter into the warm water and then gradually add to the dry mix to form a dough add the bacon and garlic and mix thoroughly to combine. Knead into a ball and allow to prove. Knock back and place into bread tin or flower pot and again prove. Bake in a hot oven 210c for 15-20 minutes possibly longer depending on ovens.
2.Wild garlic juice
For the preparation of this juice you need wild garlic leaves that you’ll chop finely and squuez the juice out of them using a juicer or a strainer. Keep the juice in a small bottle or glass jar. You can consume 1 teaspoon of wild garlic juice three times a day which you’ll add in a glass of water, tea or yoghurt.
3.Wild garlic wine
Ingredients:
- 50g of wild garlic leaves
- 250ml of white wine
Put the finely chopped wild garlic leaves in a bowl and pour them with white wine. Cover and filtrate after 20-30 minutes. You should consume the acquired wine in small sips during the day. Wild garlic wine is excellent for the decomposition of accumulated mucus in the lungs and its secretion.
4.Wild garlic butter
Ingredients:
- 50g of wild garlic leaves
- 750g of butter
- salt and black pepper if you wish
Mix the finely chopped wild garlic leaves with the previously melted butter. Then, if you want you can put some salt and black pepper and stir it all well so it can join together. Put the mixture in the fridge so it can go back to its solid condition. The usage is the same as in regular butter.
5.Wild garlic leaves tincture (wild garlic drops)
Ingredients:
- 20g of wild garlic leaves
- 1l of grape brandy
Put the finely chopped wild garlic leaves in a bottle and then pour them with grape brandy. Let it rest for 20 days in a closed bottle and shake it from time to time. After 20 days filtrate the acquired liquid and pour it into a dark glass dish, covered with a lid, which you should keep in a dark place. You can consume 1 teaspoon of this tincture in the morning and at night. You can add it in half a glass of cold milk or yoghurt.
